Busy Bee

I haven't had a whole lot of time to blog lately. I've been busy this week preparing for my interview and tour at Paul Mitchell. Our freshman year, Veronica and I vowed we would go to school there together after high school and move to Costa Mesa. Well, I finished high school early in October so I was just waiting for Veronica and graduation is nearing. After these few years, we still want to go through with our plans, so I applied and set up my interview with them.

It was on Wednesday, so I went with my mother and boy, I fell in love with the school! I have to admit, I was pretty nervous at first, but as soon as the admissions leader greeted me with a huge smile, I instantly felt comfortable. We talked over things and she told me she was glad I didn't look like everyone else and that I had great personal style. That, of course, was a huge compliment to me. She explained the method the school uses to teach the students and it really seems like something I can do. For example, students are absolutely not allowed to write notes in black or blue pen...It's strictly colored markers and colored pencils! That made me really happy, seeing as how I love colors. We talked some more and got me even more hooked. She then gave me a tour of the school and I met some of the instructors. They were so cool! They told me I would never get bored because there is always something going on and I'd make friends easily.
I'm extremely excited to start school in the Fall. I've been wanting to do this since I was eight and now the real world is coming. It's about time, too.
I also need to look for a job as soon as possible. After all, living in Orange County ain't cheap!

Bedazzle

I've been tapping into my inner child lately and have been doing crafty DIY projects with accessories and such, that's why I became ecstatic when I came across this blog entry http://anniediamond.blogspot.com/2009/05/and-then-she-feels-like-angel-talking.html by Curiouser & Curiouser. I decided to make some for myself using those cheap Rite-Aid shoes everyone and their mother own, craft glue, assorted gems, tiny pearl beads, and thread.

Before and after below.

My inspiration from these shoes below.

Purple Eggs and Ham

Since my mother knows I like to think alternatively, she made me purple eggs and ham instead of green ones. It all kinda blended in together, but I appreciated it a lot.

They were delicious, by the way.

I haven't been going out a whole lot because I've been busy at home, but once I do, I'll start posting my outfits for the day. I'll be looking forward to the project.

Hi, I'm Giselle

Since I'm starting to blog on a regular basis, I thought I'd let you into my life a little and tell you about myself, or what I'm willing to say over the internet, at least.

My name is Giselle Lopez. I'm 17 years old and live in Moreno Valley, California. I'm Mexican, and although I don't speak it as well as I used to, I speak Spanish. I want to learn more Spanish because after a few years of not using it except for gossipping with my friends, it has gotten rusty. I can also speak what little French I learned in high school. Sure, I speak broken French, but you can probably guess what I'm meaning to say. I want to learn Portuguese and visit Brazil one day. As you can see, I have a fascination with romance languages. They're so beautiful!

Things that pique my interest are fashion, night life, socializing, positive energy, collages, alternative lifestyles, etc. Different things interest me, actually. I'm hardly ever bored. I find things to entertain me.

Music is a huge part of who I am. I grew up being taught to appreciate all kinds of music for what they are and that they are an art form. It allows you to let your energy out into the world, whether it be good or bad. No matter what, your energy will be circulating all throughout the world for people to enjoy. I think that's what I love so much about it. I listen to anything and everything, and I truly mean that. I see music as a soundtrack to my life. No matter what, there is always a song playing in my head. I like it that way. If you ask me, music should be playing everywhere you go. It sets the mood.

Now, I'll let you into my personal space, AKA, my room. It is the one place I can go and completely be myself. All my troubles are left at the door when I walk in here. It is my happy, enjoyable, calm place. I hardly ever let people into my room, mostly because it is the one thing I can call my own. If I ever let you in there, know that you mean a lot to me. It's my property.
Here's my infamous collage of girlz. As you can see, they are all attractive. It's right next to my bed. Why? Because I wake up to these girls every day and draw inspiration. It's amazing, really. Lots of Lily Allen. I draw the most inspiration from here. Now that I think about it, Karen O and a few others need to go up there. *Mental note.

Closet doors? I say "Fuck 'em!" I liked this shower curtain. You'll also notice there's something written at the top. It reads, "IF THE SILENCE TAKES YOU THEN I HOPE IT TAKES ME TOO" since I'm a Death Cab fan.

The rave wall. This is where I put up pictures and flyers for raves I've been to or am planning to attend. Of course, these are only some of them. I couldn't get a hold of a lot of them. It's okay, I remember all the ones I've been to. There's also a Washington state liscence plate as you can see. It belonged to my parents' vehicle when we lived in WA. My mom gave it to me. It's one memory I have of my dad.

My dad's keyboard, the only other belonging I have left to
remember him by. It means the most to me because I remember the first day he bought it. I was about...I wanna say 4, and he'd play songs for me and sing. He was a musician and could play all sorts of instruments. That's where I get my love and appreciation for music. I have my pops to thank for that.

When I first moved to Moreno Valley, I visited the JoAnn's fabric store and purchased this black and multi-color polka-dotted fabric. I got it for way cheap because they were relocating and needed all the fabric to be sold. Instead of regular curtains, I draped my left over fabric on my window and it worked out just fine.

Finally, some scarves that hang on my vanity and a tack in which a few necklaces dangle from. You can also see my shitty paint job. It was a long, hot, high, un-coordinated summer, to make it clear. A few years back, too.
Now that I've shared a bit of my life, I only hope you share a smidgen of yours with mine. Happy blogging.

New Laptop

I got a new laptop! It may not exactly be the Macbook I wanted, but whatever. It was a gift from my mom's husband, and any friendly gesture from him is accepted. Plus, my only source of internet as of a year ago until now has been my trusty phone, which can only do so much y'know? So from here on out, you can expect lots more to come from me - thoughts, pictures, events, etc. and it'll hopefully be enough to entertain us all.

Woo hoo, here's to my new laptop and a blog-filled future!
